Empower Her: Know Your Rights

In the vibrant democracy of India, it is imperative that every citizen, especially girls and women, is equipped with the knowledge of their fundamental rights. The "Empower Her: Know Your Rights" campaign, initiated by DJMVDJMV, aims to build the capacity of girls and women to understand their fundamental rights and to actively participate as citizens in India's democratic society. Supported by the National Foundation for India and other stakeholders, this campaign is a targeted effort to educate individuals about their fundamental rights as guaranteed by the country's constitution or by international human rights standards. These rights encompass civil, political, economic, social, and cultural dimensions, all essential for the dignity, well-being, and freedom of individuals.

The campaign focuses on raising awareness about specific rights, such as freedom of speech, freedom of religion, the right to privacy, the right to a fair trial, the right to education, the right to health, and the right to work, among others. Its objective is to inform people about the nature of these rights, how they are legally protected, and how individuals can exercise and defend them.

To achieve its goals, the "Know Your Fundamental Rights" campaign has developed informative leaflets and conducted various community workshops at schools and grassroots levels. Overall, this initiative has empowered women and girls with the knowledge and resources needed to effectively exercise their rights, hold governments and institutions accountable for upholding human rights, and cultivate a culture of rights awareness and respect within society.

Looking ahead, DJMV plans to organize additional workshops and campaigns to further raise awareness and encourage active citizenship in safeguarding the constitution of India.
