Volunteers for Change:

DJMV has launched a platform for Volunteers for Change (V4C) to contribute to the organization. Upon reviewing their achievements, DJMV will provide them with a certificate.

Inviting volunteers to participate in various activities is a wonderful way to engage the community and do meaningful work. Here are some of the activities we invite you to volunteer for.

Internship for Change:

DJMV Internship Program "Internship for Change (I4C)" is a unique opportunity where young students (18+) and young professionals from diverse backgrounds, locally or internationally, join DJMV for a month or more to exchange their skills and experiences while gaining hands-on exposure to social work.

Throughout the program, interns are paired with a mentor who provides guidance and practical experience in women and girls empowerment initiatives. Every effort is made to align the intern's interests with the organization's needs.

Internship durations vary based on the availability and academic requirements of the intern, as well as DJMV's needs. Please note that internships are unpaid. However, exceptional candidates may be eligible for out-of-pocket allowances and accommodation.

What Interns Can Expect:

  • Engaging in community-based learning.
  • Exchanging ideas and skills with disadvantaged youth.
  • Collaborating on social entrepreneurship projects.
  • Gaining firsthand experience in development management.
  • Developing social research, analysis, and advocacy skills.
  • Opportunities to enhance leadership and entrepreneurial abilities.

How to Apply:

Your application must be submitted at least one month before your desired internship start date. Depending on circumstances, there may be a Skype/telephone/personal interview as part of the selection process.

Creative Projects undertaken by Interns

DJMV creatively engages interns, including both national and international students, at the community level to make a meaningful difference.

  • Students from the University of Texas, USA, actively participating in digital literacy and communication classes.
  • Social Work students from Kerala deeply involved in micro-planning and studying migration patterns in coastal areas.
  • Interns from AIF, New Delhi, organizing community workshops on menstrual hygiene management
  • University of Texas students engaging in community plantation at Markandi Village"

Interns Speak

“I am very happy to work with DJMV during my summer internship at Gopalpur, where I engaged with youth to teach spoken English and computer education. We have been associated with DJMV for the last three years and it has been a great learning opportunity for all of us” Lauren Matranga, University of Texas, USA

Field exposure with DJMV on migration issues in coastal fishing villages helped us understand the connection between Odisha and Kerala. We learned a lot about the push and pull factors of distress migration in the context of small-scale fisheries. This lifetime experience with DJMV will certainly help our social work students to build their perception on migration," said Anu John, a Social Work Student at Kerala University.
